Choosing a built-in oven: recess, capacity and cleaning
A built-in oven must suit your cabinet, utilities and cooking habits. Large capacity or a long programme list cannot compensate for an unsuitable installation opening. Start with the model’s installation drawing, then compare cooking and cleaning features.
Appliance dimensions versus recess dimensions
Specifications may show two sets of dimensions: appliance size and the opening required in the cabinet. Check ventilation, connection space and approved installation position. An oven that fits the width may still be unsuitable for the depth or cabinet design.
Confirm electrical and utility requirements with a qualified professional in advance. A plug photo or the previous appliance does not prove that every new oven connects in the same way. Separately confirm who installs it and what the purchase offer includes.
Capacity and programmes for your cooking
Compare cavity capacity and how it accommodates the trays you use. Confirm which rails, trays and accessories are included. Programmes advertised for a series are not necessarily present in every model in that series.
Choose for recurring kitchen tasks: baking, roasting, using several levels or a specialist programme. Steam cooking, adding moisture during cooking and water-assisted cleaning are different functions; similar marketing names do not mean the oven offers all of them.
Pyrolytic and assisted cleaning are different processes
Pyrolytic cleaning uses high heat to reduce residues to ash, removed after cooling as instructed. Water-assisted programmes soften residues and require further manual cleaning. Special cleaning coatings are another option; check which surfaces they cover.
The instructions specify which accessories must be removed before cleaning and which may remain. There is no universal rule for rails and trays, even within one brand. Maintain and use the oven according to its manual, rather than a general explanation of the technology.
What to confirm before completing an order
Keep the full model number alongside the recess drawing and accessory list. Verify finish, warranty, confirmed availability, transport and installation. If a detail is missing from the offer, clarify it rather than assume it is included in the price.
