Choosing a dishwasher: 45 or 60 cm, integrated or freestanding?
Two similar-looking dishwashers can suit completely different kitchens. Before comparing programmes and prices, decide whether you need a freestanding dishwasher, one fitted behind a kitchen front or a compact option. This decision guides your search and helps avoid a model unsuitable for the planned installation.
Installation type and kitchen front
A freestanding dishwasher has its own front. An integrated model uses a suitable kitchen panel: fully integrated models usually have controls on the top edge of the door, while semi-integrated models retain visible controls. Check front-panel, height and hinge requirements in the model instructions.
Do not assume every freestanding dishwasher can be fitted under a worktop or have parts removed. If this is your plan, confirm it in the manufacturer’s specification. Check access to water and drainage connections and space for the door, without modifying utilities yourself.
45 and 60 cm: size categories are not installation dimensions
Slimline dishwashers usually belong to the 45 cm width class, and standard models to the 60 cm class. These are common categories; actual width and opening dimensions must be checked in the model drawing. Measure the height to the underside of the worktop, available width and depth needed for connections.
Capacity that suits your dishes
Place-setting capacity helps compare models, but does not indicate how many pots fit in everyday use. Look at basket layout, space for tall dishes, cutlery storage and height adjustment. Interior photos and the dimensions of your dishes help assess the fit.
Compare programme times, noise and consumption in the specification too. Not every feature in a series appears in every model. App connectivity, automatic door opening or a particular drying method must be listed for the exact model number you choose.
Final checks before ordering
Filter by dishwasher type and width, then narrow down capacity and budget. Separately confirm installation inclusions, whether a kitchen front is required and any extra service fees. Verify availability, warranty and importer: these are offer details, not properties of the width class.
